Capital Wireless Interoperability Network (CapWIN)

CapWIN (Capital Wireless Interoperability Network) is a wireless data platform supporting interoperable mobile data terminal (MDT) communications between public safety agencies and their respective criminal, motor vehicle, driver licensing and other databases including various federally databases. Many agencies previously used disparate MDT systems operating on different standards, frequencies and terminals and could not communicate directly with one another or secure access to other municipality/agency data while mobile. The CapWIN platform delivers interoperability, authenticity and a security supporting interface between various Public Safety databases in the Washington DC metropolitan area. It enables secure information sharing and querying, text, voice and video messaging. TDC team members supported the requirements definition together with technical and administrative support of it’s development.
